The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in after a fatal shooting in North Vancouver, B.C., on Tuesday night.

The shooting happened in the parking garage of a newly opened condominium complex in the 600 block of Seylynn Crescent, according to IHIT. Witnesses called police at 8:12 p.m. PT.

Rock Habib-Joumaa, 25, of North Vancouver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was known to police but did not have a criminal record. Police believe the shooting was targeted.

Officers are now searching for two people who were in the area at the time and may be connected.

"This shooting violated the tranquillity of the holidays. There are people out there who knew of Mr. Habib-Joumaa's activities or have seen the two persons of interest," IHIT Cpl. David Lee said in a news release.

"We ask anyone with information, or video in the area of 600 block of Seylynn Crescent, to contact IHIT immediately."

A witness told CBC that she heard what sounded like three gunshots, then a brief pause, and then more shots.

Salah Aptelgaeyra, a resident of the building, said it was frightening to learn of such extreme violence so close to home.

"You don't expect it in North Vancouver," he told reporters.
