Bounty offered for B.C. murder suspect
A bounty has been posted for the prime suspect in the murders of three young men last year in British Columbia. People in Kitimat are offering $17,500 for information leading to the arrest of Kevin Vermette.
Vermette, 43, disappeared after four men, all aged 20, were shot at a campground in July, 1997. Three of the men died. The fourth survived and has since recovered.
Police have found no trace of Vermette. The avid hiker and survivalist vanished into the woods around Kitimat, about 1,800 kilometres northwest of Vancouver. Police are assuming that Vermette is still alive, though many believe he died in the woods.
The reward coincides with the release of 19,000 new wanted posters. They'll be sent to police agencies across Canada.
