B.C. NDP no longer official party after recounts

British Columbia's New Democrats have lost another recount and been reduced to two seats in the provincial legislature.

Sheila Orr was declared the winner in the Victoria-Hillside riding on Thursday afternoon. The Liberal candidate won by 82 votes over NDP incumbent Steve Orcherton.

The news comes one day after election officials declared Liberal Jeff Bray the winner in the Victoria-Beacon Hill riding.

The loss in the two recounts has dashed the NDP hopes of holding four seats, the minimum required to maintain official party status.
