Bombardier and striking workers in Thunder Bay reach deal
Bombardier and the Canadian Auto Workers union have reached a tentative deal, just a day after a strike began at the company's railcar assembly plant in Thunder Bay, Ont.
"The bargaining committee has reached a tentative agreement and it's now up to the membership to accept or decline the offer," said Dominc Pasqualino, CAW local president.
The union's 700 members at the plant will vote on the offer this weekend before it is ratified."
"Quicker we can get it resolved, the quicker I can get back to work and that's never a bad thing," worker C.J. Hanlon said after spending a day on the picket line.
"I just moved out [here] so new place and new bills and the longer I'm out of work the worse it is."
The CAW bargaining team is recommending that workers accept the offer.
