Interest on unpaid property taxes should drop now, say P.E.I. Liberals
P.E.I.'s Liberal finance critic says the interest rate of 18 per cent on unpaid property taxes should be reduced now, to help Islanders struggling with their finances due to layoffs and work reductions during the pandemic. The finance minister says the rates will be reduced, but not until January 2022.

Reports of sexual violations against children double in P.E.I.
There's been an increase in the number of police reports of sexual violations against children in Canada, including in P.E.I. which has seen an increase of 177 per cent between 2014 and 2019. Those who work to protect children expect the numbers to raise during the pandemic.

P.E.I.'s 'unfounded' sexual assault cases highest in country
P.E.I. continues to have the highest rate of “unfounded” sexual assault cases in the country, according to a recent report by Statistics Canada. The report put P.E.I.’s rate at 25 per cent in 2019, the most recent year statistics are available. That’s more than double the national average of 10 per cent the same year.
