2 men fall to their deaths at lookout point near Nordegg

Two men died this afternoon after falling at Crescent Falls Viewpoint, a popular provincial campground and picnic area near Nordegg.

Emergency crews were called to the area along the David Thompson Highway around 2 p.m. after reports that two people had fallen from the lookout point.

The crew called in STARS Air Ambulance and Kananaskis Emergency Service for what they thought might be an aerial rescue after it was determined the men had fallen about 18 metres.  EMS were able to walk down to reach the men, but both had died. One man is believed to be in his 20s and other in his early 30s.

RCMP are investigating the cause of the accident.
