If you're searching for that perfect personalized gift for a friend, co-worker or loved one, look no further than these marbled pendants and earrings, which can be easily made from scratch. These exceptional statement pieces provide a powerful modern flair to both casual and formal outfits. Both sophisticated and quirky, you'll find yourself reaching for them when you need a special, unique touch to elevate your everyday look.
Here's what you'll need:
- 2 packs of polymer clay – 1 black, 1 white
- Craft knife
- Rolling pin
- Cutting board
- Square lipstick cap
- Thick silver ring (or circular lipstick cap)
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
- Industrial glue
- Earring blanks
- Pliers
- 2 pendant bails
- Gold chain
- 1 necklace clasp
- 2 jump rings
Here's how to do it:
Grab your black and white polymer clay and cut them into 6 individual pieces (3 white and 3 black).
Roll the clay between your hands into six individual strands.
Intertwine a black strand and a white one to create a twist. Twirl the remaining strands around the twist to create a clay rope. Continue twirling the rope on itself until it becomes a ball. Now roll the ball in your hands until it becomes a smooth sphere.
Flatten the ball down with your hands to flatten it. Grab your rolling pin and roll it out until it's a thin sheet – about 4mm thickness. Make sure the sheet is even in width.
Grab your lipstick cap – square, round, whatever you prefer! Use it to "stamp" out two cut-outs from the clay.
Use your craft knife to carefully cut two rectangles out of the remaining clay - whichever size you desire.
Lay the cutouts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake at 250°F for 15 minutes, then let cool for 10 minutes.
Use the industrial glue to attach some earring blanks onto the round clay cutouts. These will be our new earrings!
Glue two pendant bails to the back of one of the clay rectangles. Thread the gold chain through the pendant bails. Close the pendant bails with pliers.
Attach a jump ring to each end of the chain. Attach a clasp to one of the jump rings. Close with pliers. Your new necklace is complete!
