There's something so satisfying about a sewing project that's quick and practical, and this sun hat by Sewing Therapy's Sara SJ Kim is no exception.

In this episode of her CBC Life series Sewing School, Sara provides step-by-step instructions for making your own version of this reversible hat, complete with details on how to adjust the brim length. She'll also show you how to attach two different kinds of optional straps: long ties that add a dash of romance or a drawstring and cord for a sportier vibe.

  • Thread, in colours of your choice
  • Lightweight woven fabric for exterior and lining, in colours or patterns of your choice (see instructions for more details)

  • Clothing iron
  • Point turner (optional)
  • Pinking shears (optional)
  • Cord and cord lock (optional)
