Sewing Therapy’s Sara SJ Kim shows how to turn your leftover scraps into a sweet little hair accessory

When finishing up a sewing project, you may often find that you're left with an assortment of fabric odds and ends that you're not totally sure what to do with. Enter: this simple scrap-busting project from Sara SJ Kim, the creator of Sewing Therapy.

In this episode of her CBC Life series Sewing School, Sara demonstrates how to transform your leftover fabric scraps into a sweet little hair accessory that's perfect for wearing or gifting. In just a few short minutes, she'll show you how to make loops, assemble the elastic band and stitch it all together using your sewing machine.

Here's what you'll need:

  • A sewing machine
  • String, in colours of your choice
  • 2 (18" x 7") pieces scrap fabric
  • 1 (12" x 3") piece scrap fabric
  • 1" wide elastic band
  • Safety pin (optional)
