Whether you're looking to liven up a plain t-shirt, incorporate the patchwork trend into your wardrobe or simply develop your sewing skills a little, this project from Sara SJ Kim, the creator of Sewing Therapy, could be just what you're after.

In the first video in her CBC Life series Sewing School, Sara will show you how to transform scrap fabric into wearable works of art by creating patchwork pockets that you can add to just about any piece of clothing. You'll learn how to pair fabrics, practice quilting-style stitching and get tips on how to properly adorn the finished product.

Check out the video for Sara's full tutorial, then scroll down for the full list of materials needed for this sewing project.
