"Hand sewing can be a therapeutic activity, but for days when you require more efficiency, it's time to bring out your sewing machine," says Sara SJ Kim, the creator of Sewing Therapy. One of those instances may be when you're looking to add buttons to a piece of clothing or fabric.

In this episode of her CBC Life series Sewing School, Sara demonstrates how to attach buttons and create buttonholes on a garment using a straightforward sewing machine method. In a few short minutes, you'll learn how to properly secure each foot to the sewing machine and master two different techniques for opening buttonholes.
