Hydration nation
Beauty fans know that silky, smooth skin starts with a good scrub, and is followed up with a deep hydrating lotion or oil. But what if you could find both steps in one? Enter Dove's new Exfoliating Body Polish, three new products designed to sloth of dead skin cells while it nourishes. Using a form of hydrated silica (which essentially has the same chemical identity as sand, meaning it's inert), each formula contains Dove's proprietary ¼ moisturizing cream and can be used three to four times per week to help maintain a soft body glow.
Dove Exfoliating Body Polish in Crushed Macadamia Nut & Rice Milk, Pomegranate Seeds & Shea Butter or Kiwi Seeds & Cool Aloe, $8 each, at drugstores, mass market retailers and online retailers
Oh so sweet
Canadian beauty brand Cake Beauty is known for their sugary confections — like the Desserted Island Enriched Hand Lotion — and now they're coming for your shower. To go along with their v. v. popular dry shampoo and styling selection, they've just launched a shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo contains apple cider vinegar to help cleanse strands and the conditioner has lemon seed oil to help add shine while keeping away grease.

London calling
Burberry brought back star talent Cara Delevingne for the release of their latest scent, Burberry Her. This juice, which just landed in stores at the beginning of October, was created to capture the sense of being a true Londoner — which the model/actor embodies to her core. With top notes of red and dark berries, middle notes of jasmine and violet, and a base of amber and dry musk, Her is both playful and grounding, while it will also be recognized for its unique and adventurous blend, created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.

Warm regards
Laline, a popular cult beauty brand from Tel Aviv, has made its way to Canada, launching here earlier this year, opening their second Toronto location this fall at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. If you can't get to the store to check out their body and bath care products IRL, might we suggest this spa in jar — the Laline Thermal Mask. This cleansing treatment warms up on contact with the skin, and utilizes the powers of vitamins A and E, as well as chamomile, to help cleanse and moisturize the complexion. Slather on the viscous brown concoction and leave for five minutes (perhaps to brush your teeth?), at night as a special cleansing routine two to three times a week.

We can't believe we're saying this already, but beauty advent calendars have just landed in stores for the 2018 season. If you're one of those people who gets their shopping done early (we know you're out there, and we applaud you!), perhaps it's time to snag the NYX Candyland advent calendar, which comes with ornament-sized lippies and new eye hues limited to this season.

Natural healing
The ultimate multi-tasker has arrived. Formulated for skin and hair, Kerastase's Baume Miracle is 99 per cent natural, with botanical ingredients that help to heal, soothe and hydrate. Natural beeswax, Thai rice bran oil and Amazonian Brazil nut oil work in tandem to heal hair overnight as a masque, help smooth and add shine to hair during the day, or help hydrate dry patches on the arms, legs and more whenever you need. Try it as a cuticle balm or add to the high points of the face for a lit from within dewy glow.
Kérastase Aura Botanica Baume Miracle, $57, available at select salons across Canada
Blemish blaster
The latest innovation from millennial fave Glossier is a portable stick made to treat and clear up nasty pimples, thanks to a combination of 5% benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil and capryloyl salicylic acid (a less irritating form of the chemical exfoliator). It comes in a handy tube that you twist a few times to get the product out, and then apply with the help of an antimicrobial stainless steel tip. After just three hours, 83 per cent of testers said they saw a reduction in the blemish size, and after 24 hours 80 per cent said all swelling was eliminated and the zit healed faster than usual.

Fall into it
We often think the most eco-friendly innovations come from newer brands. But nail care line BioSculpture, which was founded in 1988, has been doing conscious nail polishes well for many years. The line itself is vegan and cruelty-free, and does not contain toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor & DTP (dibutyl phthalate). It's fall line up includes four beautiful hues — their main collection has over 230 shades, in case you didn't know — dubbed Serenity, Flirty, Elegance and Love. We can just imagine Flirty as the perfect party complement this coming holiday season.
BioSculpture Gel Nail Polish in Flirty, $9.99, available at select salons and spas and biosculpturenails.com
