Natasha Negovanlis's Canadian heroes? Her baba and dedo

"If they didn't come to this country, I wouldn't be here." Natasha Negovanlis' grandparents came to Canada to make a better life for their future family.

'If they didn't come to this country, I wouldn't be here.'

Natasha Negovanlis wouldn't be where she is today if it weren't for her baba and dedo — her Macedonian grandmother and grandfather. The Carmilla star recognizes these two people as the most influential figures in her life. Negovanlis attributes her accomplishments in the Canadian industry to her grandparents: that they made the selfless decision to pick up and start their lives over in Canada and paved a path to success for the future of their family.

Negovanlis is in the top ten to win the Fan's Choice Award at the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards airing Sunday, March 12 at 8 pm/8:30 NT on CBC. You can vote now.
