How to watch and listen to Canada Day 150 on CBC

Here's everything you need to know to make the most of your Canada Day on CBC.

Yes, there will be fireworks. Yes, you can watch from anywhere.

CBC is marking the 150th anniversary of Confederation with a full day of special programming from coast to coast to coast.

Whether you're blasting the radio at a backyard barbecue, streaming events in Ottawa on your phone while partying in Saskatoon, or just curling up in front of the TV, we've got you covered from sunrise to the last firework over Parliament Hill. And if you're watching online, you can tune in from anywhere in the world!

Here's an overview of everything that's going on (and see below for a chronological schedule).

Canada Day evening specials

Buffy Sainte-Marie is just one of Canada's favourite musicians and performers who will be part of Canada Day 150! From Coast to Coast to Coast (Matt Barnes)

Canada Day 150! From Coast to Coast to Coast (delayed start time: 9:30 p.m.-midnight ET): hosted by Rick Mercer from Parliament Hill in Ottawa, this three-hour special will feature performances from every province and territory from some of Canada's favourite musicians and performers, including: Alessia Cara, Gordon Lightfoot, Serena Ryder, Walk Off The Earth, Kinnie Star, Kelly Bado, Arkells, Delhi 2 Dublin, Jonny Harris, Brett Kissel, Bruce Cockburn, Whitehorse with Faouzia, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Trade-Offs, Stéphanie Bédard, Rémi Chassé, DJ Champion, Marie-Christine Dépestre, Gardy Fury, Alex McMahon, Coeur de pirate, Jonathan Torrens and Mary Walsh. The broadcast will culminate with the fireworks display above Parliament Hill. Tune in on:

​Ottawa Live Stream: Time for Canada (delayed start time: 9:30 p.m.): This live stream will carry all the celebrations from the Canada Day show on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, including performances by Alessia Cara, Gordon Lightfoot and more, and concluding with a spectacular 20-minute fireworks display. CBC News Network (6-10 a.m. ET): CBC News Network will kick off Canada Day news coverage with Heather Hiscox hosting live from Charlottetown, P.E.I. News Network will continue to bring Canadians coverage, colour and commentary from across the country throughout the day.

CBC News Special Presentation: Canada Day 2017 (10 a.m.-3 p.m. ET): The celebrations continue from the Hill with Peter Mansbridge, with coverage of the Royal Visit to Ottawa by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, the official Canada Day ceremony on Parliament Hill, including a special performance from Bono and The Edge from U2. CBC News live blog (8 a.m.-midnight ET): For all of Canada Day, CBC News's live blog will stay on top of the day's celebrations from across the country.

CBC Radio One

Radio One live special (Noon-3 p.m. ET): Piya Chattopadhyay and Duncan McCue will host a Canada Day special on CBC Radio One, live from Ottawa. Listen

CBC Radio 2

Throughout Canada Day, CBC Radio 2 will feature a CBC Music celebration of 100 per cent Canadian music. Highlights include:

The New Canadian Global Music Orchestra (noon-1 p.m. local time): The New Canadian Global Music Orchestra was created by the Royal Conservatory of Music to celebrate the cultural diversity and pluralism of our country as it turns 150. It features 12 members chosen from more than 100 new Canadians from 47 countries.

CanadaSound (2-3 p.m. local time): Host Grant Lawrence tells the surprising stories behind some of Canada's most iconic sounds. Also, Canadians suggest the sounds that evoke Canada for them and musicians take those sounds to create new songs.

Made in Canada: the Soundtrack of a Nation (4-5 p.m. local time): For decades, Canadian artists have defied labels, burst through the boundaries of musical genres and pioneered new sounds and styles to create a diverse national soundtrack — one you can't find anywhere else. Made in Canada, with host Emma Godmere, introduces you to the stories behind some of your favourite songs on Canada's soundtrack.

CBC Kids

CBC Kids Canada Day Special (9-10 a.m. ET) : Join the stars of Studio K —  Janaye, Tony and Victor and puppets Gary, Cottonball and Mr. Orlando — for a special morning on Canada Day from Parliament Hill in Ottawa. CBC Kids will also reveal how the young winner of their Prime Minister for a Day contest spent the day with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Tune in on:

CBC Kids presents Studio K Live on Facebook! (10:00 a.m. ET and 4:30 p.m. ET) Say hello to Janaye, Gary the Unicorn and Mr. Orlando, and they might say hello back! The Studio K crew streams live from Ottawa. 

Still Standing 

Still Standing Live in Whitehorse (12 p.m. ET): Comedian Jonny Harris — Still Standing host and Murdoch Mystery regular — will be live in Whitehorse, Yukon for Canada Day. Jonny will be joined by Dave White (Host of Airplay, the afternoon show on CBC Radio in Whitehorse.)
