We will always be home for Son of a Critch Season 3
Mark Critch and his family are back for more stories of growing up as an awkward teen in Newfoundland
It's 1980s Newfoundland and we are delving into the journey of Mark Critch as a 14-year-old boy, navigating the complexities of love, school, friendship and his often maddening but always loving family. Son of a Critch is a coming-of-age story, based on the acclaimed memoir of the same name by Mark Critch, the renowned host of CBC's current events sketch comedy series, This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
Where are we at?
At the end of Season 2, the Critch family had their prized blueberry-picking spot replaced with a new drive-through restaurant. Fox (Sophia Powers) had to make a choice between moving away with her Dad or staying with her Mom (and closer to her friends). And Mark has anxiety over the prospect of nuclear war, the appearance of Haley's comet and potentially losing Fox to her move. As if puberty wasn't stressful enough! Thank goodness for Pop (Malcolm McDowell) who brings a voice of reason to ease Mark's fears.
Immerse yourself in the nostalgic charm of 1980s
Mark has always been a late bloomer, but this season we see him start to come into his own. He takes his first awkward steps into Grade 9, where he should be king of the castle (before he has to start the whole anxious cycle again in high school). For now, however, he should be able to feel the status of being the Big Man On Campus, but will this year fulfil its heady promise?
Season 3 of Son Of A Critch premieres Tuesday, January 9 at 9am ET on CBC Gem, followed by broadcast at 8:30pm (9NT) on CBC TV. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now on CBC Gem and FAST channel CBC Comedy.
