Bridges, McGregor pace Canada in 14-2 rout of Norway at para-hockey worlds

Tyler McGregor had three goals and three assists while Billy Bridges also scored a hat trick while adding two helpers, as Canada defeated Norway 14-2 Sunday at the world para-hockey championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Ola Oiseth and Audun Bakke scored for the Norwegians, who fell to 0-2.

"It feels good to see the boys have some really good success using their skills, and some of the tactics we wanted to clean up after our last game," Canada head coach Ken Babey told Hockey Canada.

Hickey called it a team win.

"Everyone put some points up on the board," he said. "The rest of the week we just want to stay focused on the main goal, so some small things we'll need to work on as a team."

Norwegian goaltender Johan Groeline allowed six goals on 11 shots in the first period. He was replaced to start the second by Erik Haugen, who allowed eight goals on 14 shots in relief.

Canada plays its final preliminary-round game Tuesday against South Korea at 7 a.m. ET.

Elsewhere on Sunday, four different players scored for the U.S. and captain Josh Pauls had three assists in a 4-0 victory over South Korea as the Americans earned a bye to the semifinals.

The U.S., which outshot its opponent 22-3, secured the top seed in Group A with a record of 2-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L).

The Americans will conclude preliminary-round play Tuesday against Norway at 10:30 a.m. ET.
