Canadian fencing team hopes to reach podium at home

Eighteen athletes were named to Canada's Pan Am Games fencing team on Thursday. 

Each member earned their spot through results from the past season's World Cup circuit and the 2015 Senior Pan Am Championships.

The fencing competition will take place July 20-25 at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre & Field House.

"Last Pan Am Games, I walked away with a bronze medal. This year, I would love to get back on the podium and be crowned Pan American champion in front of Canada,"Joseph Polossifakis said. 

At the 2011 Pan Am Games, Polossifakis was part of Canada's gold medal winning sabre team.
