"I couldn't be more excited to be named on the Olympic team," said Bouchard, a native of Saint-Constant, Que., in a press release.
"I never thought I would be able to reach this level of competition [after a near-fatal accident in 2010] but with the support, love, and confidence of my team, coaches and most of all my family, I've managed to turn a near death experience into the most meaningful moment of my life: representing Canada at the Olympics."
