Sens' Hoffman to have hearing for cross-check to Couture

Ottawa Senators forward Mike Hoffman was scheduled to have a Friday afternoon telephone hearing for his cross-check to the head of San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture.

The incident happened at 7:50 of the third period when Hoffman hit Couture from behind in front of his own goal.


Hoffman received a five-minute major and game misconduct. The phone hearing means if Hoffman is suspended, it would be fewer than five games.

In 28 games this season, the Kitchener, Ont., native has is tied for second on the team with nine goals and third in points scored with 21.
