Mouna Traoré is a Toronto actor who's featured on the CBC TV series Murdoch Mysteries. She plays Rebecca James, a young woman who's come to Canada and lands a job working in the police station morgue.
We shoot all over Ontario for Murdoch Mysteries and when we're en route to any location or whenever I have downtime in my trailer, I read as much as possible.
Right now, I'm reading Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. It's a captivating read that tells a story of two sisters from what is now Ghana, and it follows their descendants. Gyasi does a phenomenal job facilitating their history and culture. And I've never ever read a story that follows Africans on both sides of the Atlantic simultaneously. Needless to say it's been absolutely refreshing.
