'I had never intended to be in the play': Sting on his musical The Last Ship
Can a British musical about ship-building win over Canadian theatre-goers? After completing a 12-week tour in the U.K. and Ireland, Sting is bringing his Tony-nominated musical The Last Ship to Toronto for a limited run.
Starring Sting himself, the show is about a sailor who returns home after 17 years at sea. Sting found some time in between rehearsals to stop by the q studio (while still dressed in his costume for the show) for a conversation about The Last Ship.

"I had never intended to be in the play," Sting told Power. "I just wanted to write it and have it produced. And then when we were on Broadway, a producer came up to me and said we need to sell more tickets and to do that we need a star. I said, who would that be? He said, you."
You can see Sting in the The Last Ship when it opens in Toronto on Saturday Feb. 9, 2019.
