Canadian indie rock band Hey Rosetta! released Second Sight this week, their first album in nearly four years. It's a record that follows the strong critical success of their last record Seeds.
Guest host Piya Chattopadhyay chats with the band about that pressure, the need for a "single," and how adding a seventh member has changed their chemistry.
"This record was definitely a move towards...embracing our potential and sort of filling it out a lot more," says Romesh Thavanathan. "There's so much room to grow always."
One task they took on this time around was to write a more "radio-friendly" single for the album, a challenge for a band known for their epic, sprawling arrangements.
"We needed something to help have people hear the record, especially in America," says Tim Baker. "It was restrictive, but in a lot of ways, restrictions can be good."
