In a conversation from the Best of Q, Beck joins Jian to discuss and perform from his 12th studio record, Morning Phase-- an album he says is about coming out of difficulty and answering the question: "how do you see the worst in things and still think the best?"
The three-time Grammy winning artist is know for releasing records that are individually distinct, but music critics have described Morning Phase as a "companion piece" to his 2002 release Sea Change. The more recent album has been hailed as one better than its sibling -- which is high praise considering that Sea Change is considered a Beck masterpiece.
