What would an artist do with a gun? Artist and curator Jonathan Ferrara sheds light with his travelling exhibition, Guns in the Hands of Artists.
Ferrara invited over 30 artists to give decommissioned weapons a second life. Today he joins guest host Piya Chattopadhyay to share the results, why he wanted to tackle the thorny issue of gun control, and how a gallery setting diffuses the typical screaming match.
He also shares revealing anecdotes about select artists — including Marcus Kenney, who found his young daughter dancing with his gun, and Deborah Luster, whose mother was fatally shot during a home invasion.
