'Where are you from?': Identity and Indigenous nationhood

For young Indigenous people, figuring out your nation and where you "come from" is often a long journey.
This week, meet young people who are figuring out how to answer the question: "where are you from?" (CBC)

In a few days, millions of people will gather to eat beavertails, watch fireworks, wave flags and celebrate being Canadian. 

But there are many distinct nations on this land — nations that have existed for far longer than 150 years. For young Indigenous people, figuring out your nation and where you "come from" is often a long journey.

On the season premiere of New Fire, you'll meet three young people who are navigating their own path to Indigenous nationhood.
