While most school kids enjoy Saturdays off, about 60 Ukrainian children in St. John’s attend a special class in their native language. The Ridna Shkola Initiative provides lessons in Ukrainian history, culture, even music and arts. Without it, Ukrainian newcomers worry their kids will lose touch with their roots.
