Quebec First Nations demand ongoing consultation on U.S. tariff response
As the United States eyes Canada’s natural resources, many of those resources are tied to lands that directly impact Indigenous communities. In Quebec, the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) is urging the provincial government to ensure that First Nations governments are consistently consulted in shaping a response strategy to U.S. tariffs. Regional chief Ghislain Picard says Indigenous leadership must have a seat at the table when it comes to making crucial economic decisions.
