A violin made by renowned Italian craftsman Antonio Stradivari in 1714 sold for $11.3 million US at Sotheby's New York on Friday. Proceeds from the auction of the instrument will go to student scholarships at the New England Conservatory per the wish of musician and NEC graduate Si-Hon Ma, who donated the violin to the music school.
