The municipal district of Ranchland isn't moving ahead with its Alberta Court of Appeal case, which argued that new exploration applications from Northback Holdings shouldn't have been accepted after a 2022 moratorium. The M.D. says the decision was a result of the province's move to lift a ban on coal exploration in the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
