Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services has 14 days to find someone eligible to claim remains, such as a spouse, a parent, or a child. After that, they’ll post a notice online for five days, before they dispose of a body. NDP leader Jim Dinn says this still doesn’t help people who can’t afford to bury or cremate their loved ones.
