Tegan and Sara on upcoming album Heartthrob
There is a sense that Canadian duo Tegan and Sara are moving beyond the indie world with Heartthrob, their first album since 2009’s Sainthood.
The twin sisters from Calgary admit they’re after record sales and they sought out producer Greg Kurstin in an effort to make the leap to a pop sound.
The pair have been darlings of the indie circuit since the late 1990s, when they were still in their teens. They've been touring ever since, appearing last year with the Black Keys and The Killers.
In an interview with CBC’s Deana Sumanac they talk about how they've changed since the early days and how they've stayed the same.
Tegan and Sara Quin insist that connection to their fans and indie music is still there and they’re still writing songs from the heart, despite their more commercial appeal.
Heartthrob is to be released Jan. 29
