Oscars 2024: Best looks from the red carpet

The Oscars red carpet was back in full swing (goodbye to last year's champagne-coloured rug), with stars posing in their best designer threads — and hopping on award-season trends, with bright reds, spring colours and sequined outfits galore.

The Oscars red carpet is in full swing (goodbye to last year's champagne-coloured rug), with stars posing in their best designer threads — and hopping on award-season trends, with bright reds, spring colours and sequined outfits galore.

As with years past, some celebrities are using the red carpet as a platform, with nominees including Mark Ruffalo and Billie Eilish wearing red pins calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The pins were designed and distributed by the group Artists4Ceasefire.

Emma Stone went for a structured look, wearing a white-mint gown with a peplum waist. Stone is a best-actress nominee for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos' steampunk comedy Poor Things.

Best-actor nominee Colman Domingo, who stars in the civil rights drama Rustin, is also one of awards season's best dressed. He elevates a classic tuxedo with an eye-catching brooch pinned to his bowtie.

America Ferrera, in the running for best supporting actress for her performance in Barbie, looks pretty in pink wearing this shimmering Versace gown and bejewelled collar necklace.
