Brad Pitt and kids appear at Unbroken premiere without Angelina Jolie
The Hollywood celebrity took his 3 eldest kids, Maddox, Pax and Shiloh, to the film's L.A. premiere
Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt brought out the family Monday night for the Los Angeles premiere of his wife's new war movie Unbroken.
With Angelina Jolie home sick with the chickenpox, Pitt appeared with his three eldest children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, 8—all four of them dressed in formal blacks and greys.
"I'm representing," chuckled Pitt to reporters. "I'm representing my wife who is at home, polka-dotted and spotted, and lamenting that she can't be here."
Jolie caused an online sensation when she released a video message Friday revealing that she's homebound with the highly contagious, and very itchy, virus. Despite missing the premiere of her latest directorial effort, Pitt says Jolie's "spirits are high."
"This [movie] has been a long time coming," said Pitt, "and she's so happy for everyone who has come out to recognize and pay tribute to an amazing life, that is Louis Zamperini."
Unbroken follows the real-life story of the American Second World War hero and Olympian.
The Japanese war camp survivor and long-distance runner died in July at age 97, and the Jolie-Pitt and the Zamperini families became close during the production of the film.
Zamperini's son, Luke, and daughter, Cynthia Garris, also attend the glitzy Hollywood premiere with Brad Pitt's parents, Jane and William Pitt, making it truly a family affair.
Unbroken goes into wide release on Dec. 25.
