Allan Hawco to star in TV thriller based on best-selling novel, Caught
The Republic of Doyle actor will star and produce in the adaption that will air on CBC-TV
Hit the road, Jake Doyle. Allan Hawco is trading his beloved Republic of Doyle character for a role as a drug-running fugitive in the TV adaptation of Lisa Moore’s best-selling novel, Caught.

The Newfoundland-born actor, who just completed filming the sixth and final season of his hit series, will return to the small screen as David Slaney—a man busted for smuggling a massive cache of marijuana into the province.
Set in 1978, the inspired by real-life story follows Slaney from his brazen prison break, to his suspenseful cross-country mission to hook up with his former partner-in-crime, and pull off one more epic drug score—the one that would set him up for life.
The thrilling story saw Lisa Moore shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize in 2013.
Hawco's own Take the Shot production company and entertainment studio, eOne, are teaming up to produce the series, which will air on CBC.
"Caught presents an outstanding opportunity to continue our special relationship with CBC,” Hawco said in a statement Wednesday. "We have no doubt that Caught will be the first of many world class productions that we collaborate on together with eOne."
Caught is currently in active development at the CBC.
The final season of Republic of Doyle begins Oct. 15 on CBC-TV at 9pm/9:30 NT.
