CBC is hiring up to 30 permanent journalists and expanding to 23 locations across the country

Are you a talented storyteller passionate about local news and current events? CBC News is hiring up to 30 permanent reporters to work in 23 under served Canadian communities — and we want to hear from you!
As part of our commitment to local news, CBC News is expanding nationwide. We are looking for experienced multiplatform reporters to join our team. These roles, based in one or two-person bureaus, will focus on broadening our coverage and ensuring the stories and voices of communities are reflected in our journalism across digital, radio, social, streaming and TV.
These opportunities span the country, including six locations in B.C., one in the North, nine across the Prairies in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, three in Ontario, two in Quebec, and one each in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We believe that every corner of Canada deserves a voice. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to lead a bureau or join existing CBC news teams depending on location.
This expansion of local and regional news will increase CBC's footprint from 48 to 66 local stations and bureaus across the country, delivering trusted news to even more Canadians.
This investment follows the CRTC's approval of Google's plan to compensate Canadian news organizations for the use of their news content. You can read more about Local Services Expansion here.
