Youth centre bags meals for Windsor homeless
Six years ago, Patricia Caron was homeless in Windsor. But now that she has roof over her head, she found a way to help those still living on city's streets.
A volunteer at the Windsor Youth Centre, she asked the group to pack up as many lunches as they could and hit the streets to hand them out.
That goal became a reality Thursday with volunteers packing up 50 lunches to donate to the city's homeless population.
"I see people outside with no food," Caron said. "So I want to do something nice."
The lunches included a burrito, a drink and a couple snacks.
"It really is an opportunity for our youth to start a philanthropic program and to see it through to the end," said Tamara Kowalska, the executive director of the centre. "It's a wonderful experience and it serves the community."
