The transportation provider for in Windsor-Essex says fog in the area will keep buses off the roads in the county Thursday morning. The afternoon commute will not be impacted, it added in an emailed statement.

An alert was issued around 5:30 a.m.

Buses in the city of Windsor will remain operational as normal.

It's a similar story in several communities within neighbouring Chatham-Kent.

Officials say there will not be morning school bus service in Dresden, Ridgetown, Thamesville, Bothwell, Highgate, Tilbury, Blenheim, Merlin, Pain Court, Wheatley, Erieau, Lighthouse Cove, Shrewsbury, Charring Cross, Grande Pointe, Florence, Morpeth and Orford.

Today's forecast in the region calls for the fog to dissipate in the morning. Periods of rain mixed with drizzle and possible flurries are also expected for most of the day.
