Chatham-Kent health unit warns of more possible measles exposures
The case was confirmed last week in a Chatham Christian School student

Chatham-Kent Public Health is warning people who visited any of several sites in Chatham or Blenheim in southwestern Ontario last week that they may have been exposed to measles.
The warning follows an announcement last Friday that a student at Chatham Christian School had contracted the disease.
CK Public Health said others may have been exposed to the virus at the following times and in the following places:
- Growing Together Family Resource Centre — W.J. Baird Site at 182 King St., Blenheim from March 4 to 7 from 7:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
- Families of the affected individuals have been notified and CK Public Health is working with daycare administration to provide guidance to staff and families.
- EarlyON — W.J. Baird Site at 182 King St., Blenheim on March 4 and March 6 between 7:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
- Tim Hortons at 41 Park Ave., Chatham on March 6 from 4:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
- Country Kitchen at 415 Richmond St., Chatham on March 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
- Walmart at 881 St Clair St., Chatham on March 7 from 11:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This latest list follows a previous list of nine possible exposure sites released by the health unit on Friday.
Anyone who was at any of the locations during the timeframes in question and is not up to date on vaccinations is asked to call CK Public Health at 519-352-7270 ext. 5902.
The health unit is asking anyone who has measles and needs to visit a health-care provider to call first and tell them they have had a measles exposure so they can prepare to prevent exposure.
Measles causes a red, blotchy rash that commonly begins on the face and behind the ears, then spreads to other parts of the body. Symptoms can include a fever, runny nose, cough, drowsiness, irritability and red eyes. A red rash appears on the face three to seven days after the start of the other symptoms.
Last week, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit identified a case of measles in a child who attended Cornerstone Christian Academy in Ruthven.
