Border agents seize $11M in suspected cocaine near Sarnia
Border agents have seized more than 400 kilograms of suspected cocaine

Canada's border agency and national police force on Wednesday announced the recent seizure of $11 million worth of "suspected cocaine" from trucks trying to enter the country near Sarnia, Ont.
The CBSA and RCMP said border agents seized roughly 419 kilograms of the suspected illicit drug from two commercial trucks that had crossed via the Blue Water Bridge.
"Working with law enforcement partners, the CBSA's National Targeting Centre identified two commercial shipments potentially containing narcotics bound for Canada from the United States," the announcement said.
Based on that information, border officials pulled the first truck into secondary inspection on Feb. 27, and reportedly discovered four duffle bags in the trailer containing around 86 kilograms of suspected cocaine, the press release said.

One week later, border agents sent a second commercial truck to secondary and located 333 kilograms of suspected cocaine in the trailer, according to the press release.

"I want to thank our border services officers, our intelligence team and the National Targeting Centre, and our RCMP partners who have been ever-vigilant in detecting and stopping illegal drugs from entering our country," said Michael Prosia, acting director general of the CBSA's Southern Ontario Region.
"Since the start of 2025, the CBSA in the southern Ontario region has seized over $68 million worth of narcotics coming from the United States."
Both drivers, as well as the drugs, are now in the RCMP's custody, per the release, and the cases are before the court in Sarnia.
