Mild Toronto day breaks 36-year-old temperature record
Are you basking in the milder temperatures or want snow already?
Talk about polar opposites — on this day last year we had just over 17 centimetres of snow.

Instead, we saw a record high Friday of 14°C, which broke the old record of 13.2°C set in 1979 on this day, according to CBC Toronto meteorologist Jay Scotland.

El Niño is a phenomenon in which a band of warm ocean water develops in the central and east-central equatorial Pacific.
"Historically, El Niño's impact across much of Canada, including here in the GTA, means warmer than normal conditions during the our cooler months," Scotland said.
So far in December, temperatures have been above normal every day.
In November, temperatures were above the seasonal average for 22 out of 30 days, says Scotland.
