A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged after a stabbing at a high school in Uxbridge, Ont., on Monday, Durham Regional Police say.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged after a stabbing at a high school in Uxbridge, Ont., on Monday, Durham Regional Police say.

In a news release on Tuesday, police said they were called to Uxbridge Secondary School for a report of an armed person. When officers arrived, they found a male with a stab wound.

Paramedics took him to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Police said the accused remained on the scene and was arrested without incident. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, failure to comply with an undertaking, two counts of failure to comply with a release order and carry a concealed weapon. He was held for a bail hearing.
