TTC subway service resumes after rush-hour delays on Line 1

Subway service has resumed on Line 1 in Toronto after being delayed for nearly an hour Wednesday evening due to signal issues.

Service had shut down between St. George and Finch stations for close to an hour

The TTC has cut the number of ‘reduced speed zones’ from a peak of nearly three dozen during the summer to only 11 as the year ended. The zones are areas where trains must slow down because the tracks are in need of maintenance or repair.

Subway service has resumed on Line 1 in Toronto after being delayed for nearly an hour Wednesday evening due to signal issues.

As of 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, service had shut down between St. George and Finch stations, the transit agency said on X, formerly Twitter.

A TTC spokesperson said service was back up and running just after 6 p.m. but riders should still expect some residual delays.

The transit agency is still investigating the exact cause of the shutdown, the spokesperson said.
