Pickering, Oshawa, Uxbridge, Beaverton and Durham Region may see between seven to 14 centimetres of snow on Friday, Environment Canada says.

Accumulating snow may make it difficult to navigate highways, roads, walkaways and parking lots in these areas, the federal weather agency said in a winter weather travel advisory issued Friday morning.

Other parts of the GTA and southern Ontario are also under a winter weather travel advisory on Friday, with snow expected to start around noon and continue in to the afternoon.

Barrie, Collingswood and Hillsdale may see snowfall amounts between five to 10 centimetres.

Close to five centimetres of snow is expected in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Newmarket, Georgina and northern York Region.

The snow will likely affect the afternoon commute and could result in reduced visibility, Environment Canada warned.

"If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop," the federal weather agency said.

Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton were under the advisory earlier Friday morning but that has since been lifted.
