Suspended Sarnia officer accused of assault faces new charges

Sarnia police say a suspended officer who was charged with multiple offences, including assault, is now facing additional charges.

Sarnia police say a suspended officer who was charged with multiple offences, including assault, is now facing additional charges.

Police say on Aug. 30, they were called to a dispute involving two people who were known to each other, including a suspended constable of the force.

They say as a result of the investigation, the 47-year-old officer was charged with assault, criminal harassment, animal cruelty and mischief.

Police say the officer is now also facing one count of uttering threats and 12 counts of possessing an unauthorized firearm.
