'They're family members,' say dog owners who were reunited with their pets on Nov. 18 after their dog-walker's van was stolen by a stranger.

Sheila O'Toole says she was overcome with relief last Friday when she was reunited with Agnes, her one-year-old shih tzu.

Tuesday she had the chance to say thank-you to the three rail workers who spotted the stolen dog-walker's van, abandoned in a parking lot at 200 Queens Quay E.

"For so many people it's just a dog, but to us they're family members," said O'Toole.

The group of dog owners and their canines met their rescuers at Toronto Police's 14 Division station tonight.
