Marina Park splash pad attracts hundreds daily

Thunder Bay's hot spell has sent many families flocking to the new splash pad at Marina Park — and the numbers show it.

The splash pad averages 800 visitors a day, according to Donna Sippala, who supervises Aquatics and Wellness for the city.

"We knew it would be a popular destination ... there's just so much to do at the park," she said.

"With the marina, the lake being right there, the public art displays ... it's just a beautiful setting."

If the heat holds up, Sippala said she expects to see steady traffic at the splash pad for the rest of the summer.
