Disaster relief committee elects leader
The Thunder Bay disaster relief committee has elected its chair.
At the group's first meeting, Wayne Fletcher, principal at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute, was chosen to lead the team of eight volunteers. For now, the committee plans to meet at least twice a week as it sets its agenda.
Fletcher said the committee will work as hard as it can to ensure people impacted by the flood receive funds as quickly as possible.
"Fundraising is probably going to be our first paramount issue that we'll have to get after so that we can get a flow of money so that we can help out the people who've been impacted by the disaster," he said.
Fletcher says the committee will not be working with city council but will receive logistical support from city administration
