Summerside movie wars end
After deciding he couldn't beat them, Emery Perry has decided to join em. The owner of the Capitol Theatre in Summerside is closing shop and going to work for the company that torpedoed his plans to build a new movie complex.
Perry announced earlier this year that he was going to build a five-screen complex in Summerside.
Shortly afterwards, the Sobey's-owned Empire Theatre chain unveiled plans for its own five-theatre complex.
After nearly 100 years, the family owned Capitol will close for good on the Thanksgiving weekend. Perry plans to screen Titanic as the curtain goes down on his business.
It's a time of mixed emotion, Perry says he's looking forward to managing the new state-of-the-art Sobeys operation. The Empire Theatre is scheduled to open next month.
