Provincial test highlights show Grade 10 literacy levels 'high and stable'
EQAO releases snapshot of provincial literacy scores, math results expected next week
As teachers and students prepare for the upcoming school year, boards across the city are waiting for the results of the 2016-17 Education Quality Assessment Office (EQAO) standardized test scores.
The tests in reading, writing and math are given to Grade 3 and 6 students across the province. Grade 9 students are tested in math, while Grade 10 students in literacy.

The EQAO released highlights from its 2016-17 provincial reading and writing tests, showing the vast majority — 102,530 students, or 81 per cent — were successful in the tests.
The literacy rate has been more or less the same — between 81 and 83 per cent — for the past five years.
In its report highlighting test scores, the EQAO said they have remained "relatively high and stable" over the last five years.
Highlights from Grade 3, 6, and 9 math tests will be released next week.
In an email to CBC News, Mark Ruban, EQAO's manager of communications, said the full results of the test — including a board-by board breakdown of results— will be made available to the public on September 20.
Corrections
- In an earlier version of this story, CBC News incorrectly reported 2015-16 EQAO results for Sudbury's school boards as this year's results. The 2017 results for individual boards and schools will be released in September.Aug 24, 2017 7:31 AM EDT
