A 25-year-old man is facing a number of charges after allegedly cutting a police officer with a machete.
On Saturday morning, Saskatoon police received a complaint about a man outside a building on the 1800 block of 22nd Street W., armed with a machete.
When officers arrived, they tried to arrest a man matching the description but he tried to bike away.
Police said a nearby woman began interfering with the arrest, while the man reached into his pants and pulled out the machete.
A short fight broke out before more police arrived and arrested the two people.
Police say one of the officers had minor cuts on his arms as a result of the machete.
Officers found methamphetamine and several pieces of stolen mail in the man's backpack.
The 25-year-old man is charged with several offences, including resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and drug possession.
A 22-year-old woman has been charged with obstruction.
